ABOUT
I'm Kamila, a product manager at a big tech company, working on emerging technology, which typically doesn't come with a prescription of what to do.
I came into the field via startups, immigrating from Poland, and Chemical Engineering in college — a non-linear path.
I started createmorethanconsume.org because I wanted to. Through being my own lab rat I've learned that:
| Creating | Not creating |
|---|---|
| Happier | Leaves a vacuum that gets filled with consumption or anxiety or expectations of others |
| More fulfilled | Brain stagnates |
| Drives exploration and curiosity | Not fun |
| Teaches you how to deal with uncertainty | Feels sort of dead |
| Changes you in ways you can't predict | |
| Fun |
In a world that's so optimized for outcomes, expanding your zone of exploration — through curiosity, making stuff that's useless, playing around — is the most innovative, subversive, healthy thing you can do.
My goal is to grow Create More Than Consume into a global community and movement of interesting people doing and sharing cool stuff. Maybe meet at a retreat in Costa Rica. In the meantime, here's a weekly newsletter, a dare to do something fun.
I also write longer essays and explorations on my Substack, Thinking Through It, so if you want to occasionally read something that needs teeth to bite into, that's where I wrestle with ideas about technology, creativity, and a sprinkle of soft existential questions.
If you're feeling the pull, I hope you join and reach out. Momentum comes from accumulation, not from a strike of inspiration to suddenly create something world-changing. You just have to keep showing up with some electricity.
